Freedom, equality, fraternity
The French motto is not an empty phrase for us.
In view of the current situation, we would like to make some basic clarifications here.
We distance ourselves, already in accordance with our traditions, emphatically and firmly against all racism, homophobia and intolerance. These had no place in our Order 700 years ago and have no place in our Order or in society in general today or in the future. We condemn anyone who publishes such statements, whether out of conviction or for propaganda purposes.
Whoever makes such statements in the name of a Church or in the name of the Order of the Temple loses all sovereignty and respectability. There is no place in our Order for such persons.
This reflects the opinion of the Sovereign Order of the Temple as a whole and is not the opinion of a single person.
